St John's seen from the south, from the churchyard

St John's from the road.

Hello!  Welcome to our website for St Johns.

Lawley is going through its most exciting changes as hundreds of new houses are built in the nearby area, as part of the Ironstone Project. We want to play a major part in welcoming people who are making their new home in these local developments, and to continue to meet those needs where possible…

St Johns is a church community that meets on Sunday mornings and has lots going on during the year.

We have good links with both the local Lawley Primary School and the Thomas Telford School. We host services from both schools  – harvest, remembrance, Christmas – during the school year.

We are part of the Central Telford Ecumenical Partnership which is between Anglican churches and Methodist churches in Telford. This Partnership  celebrates the common faith the different churches hold, as we work together in different ways.

Our worship follows Church of England liturgy, and would best be described as progressive. We have regular baptism services, a monthly all age family service, and regular communion services. At each service we have a children’s corner where we have toys, play mat, and also we offer activities to do with the children.

In addition to our various services, we have an active choir (new members always welcome!), we run the Alpha Course and have regular bible study across the year.  And there are many other various social events across the year. Events ranging from Fairs, Murder Mystery Plays, Carol Singing and Pantomimes, to Film Evenings, to various fairs as well as many other things! It’s never quiet at St John’s!

We also help run a Parent and Toddler’s group called Lawley Smallies which is very popular in the area – and it is based in our church hall.

We have a church hall in the grounds which is available for hire by community groups and individuals.

Everyone is very welcome to come along to St Johns, or feel free to make contact if there is someway we can help.

We hope to see you sometime!
