St John’s is part of the Church of England. It is an Anglican Church outside the older part of Lawley Village. Lawley is on the western part of Telford. Built in 1865, the church was intended to meet the needs of it’s local community…
St. John’s has good links with both the local Lawley Primary School and the Thomas Telford School. We host services from both schools at various times during the school year.
We are part of the Central Telford Ecumenical Partnership which is between Anglican churches and Methodist churches in Telford. This Partnership celebrates the common faith the different churches hold, as we work together in different ways.
Our worship follows Church of England liturgy, and would best be described as traditional and progressive. We have regular baptism services, a monthly all age family service, and regular communion services.
In addition to our various services, we have an active choir (new members always welcome!), ‘The Zone’ (an arts, crafts and drama youth club for 8-14 year olds), we run the Alpha Course and have regular bible study across the year. And there are many other various social events across the year ranging from Murder Mystery Plays and Pantomimes, to Film Evenings, to various fairs as well as many other things! It’s never quiet at St John’s!
Everyone is very welcome to join us. We hope to see you sometime!
